The History Department at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the History of Africa. Research specialties in any topic will be considered. The appointment will begin fall semester 2017. Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. Teaching duties include a survey in World History, undergraduate upper division courses in early and modern African History, and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Applications should include a cover letter addressing research and teaching interests and experience, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and an article length writing sample.
