Position: Assistant Professor of History. Nine-month tenure-track appointment.
Description: The Department of Social Sciences at Henderson State University, Arkansas’s public liberal arts college, seeks a new faculty member to teach courses in early American history and a social studies methods course for secondary education majors. The ideal candidate will be able to teach both halves of the American history survey course; one or more upper level courses in early American history through the Civil War and reconstruction; the methods course; and eventually teach an upper level course on Arkansas history. The ability to contribute to Henderson’s emerging public history program will also be considered favorably.

Applicants should possess a doctorate in history from an accredited institution of higher education, or be ABD with a firm defense date. Teaching experience at the college-level is desirable. Experience teaching 7-12 social studies is required.
