The Department of History at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment for an assistant professor in the History of South Asia/ Indian Ocean to begin in August 2017. We welcome applications from scholars specializing in South Asian history from any period or region who have the ability to teach both early modern and modern South Asian history surveys as well as upper-level electives. The successful candidate will be able to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to our department’s innovative major curriculum that asks students to think comparatively about issues of race, gender, politics, war, colonialism, and religion (http://www.holycross.edu/academics/programs/history). The candidate will also have opportunities to participate in the college’s vibrant Asian Studies program. This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. PhD required by August 2017.
