The Department of History at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the history of 20th century China or transnational East Asia, with demonstrated research in Sinophone regions. All specializations are welcome, with a preference for gender or colonialism/post-colonialism. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs and supervision of Ph.D. candidates in East Asian History. The successful applicant will be expected to teach the appropriate survey of East Asian history and an upper division course on Modern China, as well as other specialized upper-division and graduate courses. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. by the beginning of the appointment and demonstrate promise of distinction in scholarship and teaching.
This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant Professor rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant rank, regardless of the proposed appointee’s qualifications.
