ASIANetwork-Luce Foundation Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Hinduism
|Institution Type:||College / University|
|Location:||Ohio, United States|
Kenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts college in Gambier, Ohio, seeks applications for an ASIANetwork-Luce Foundation Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Hinduism for the 2016-17 academic year.
The Fellow will be affiliated with both the Religious Studies Department and Asian Studies Program. The area of specialization can be any aspect of Hinduism in Asia; however, we prefer candidates who specialize in Hinduism in Southeast Asia. The Fellow's responsibilities will include three classes across the year—one in the fall, which will be a new introductory course on Hinduism as a global and pan-Asian tradition, and two classes based on her/his preferences and sub-field in the spring. We would prefer that one of those courses focus on Hinduism in Southeast Asia or religion in Southeast Asia more generally. In addition, we expect the Fellow to participate in the Religious Studies Department and Asian Studies Program, by mentoring students and helping with curriculum development. The Fellow will also attend the ASIANetwork conference with other Kenyon faculty in the spring of 2017.
The Postdoctoral Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $55,000, plus healthcare coverage. The Fellow will have access to faculty development funds and support for attending the ASIANetwork conference. Successful candidates must have a PhD by August 2016, and that PhD should have been received no earlier than spring 2013. To apply visit the online careers site found at http://careers.kenyon.edu. A complete application will be comprised of: 1) a cover letter discussing the applicant's research, its relevance to the field, and prior teaching experience; 2) a statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy; 3) a curriculum vita; and 4) three letters of reference.
Review of applications will begin on February 25, 2016, and continue until the position is filled. We anticipate interviewing candidates by Skype and at the ASIANetwork meeting in St. Petersburg.
