The History Department at North Carolina State University seeks applicants for a postdoctoral teaching position in Chinese History. The postdoctoral teaching scholar will have responsibility for two course preparations per semester: introductory survey of pre-modern or modern Asian history and an advanced undergraduate-level course called “Revolutionary China” (20th century China) in the Fall and another advanced undergraduate course in Chinese history (of the candidate’s choosing) in the Spring.
The Teaching Scholar will pursue his/her own individual research agenda. A research presentation to the departmental “works-in-progress” seminar will be scheduled in the Spring semester.
The Teaching Scholar must also complete NC State’s Certificate in Teaching Techniques, a unique program that prepares the faculty of tomorrow – http://www.ncsu.edu/grad/postdoctoral-affairs/ncsu_citt.html.
Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand when applying. Experience as a teaching assistant or instructor of record is preferred.
The proposed hire date is August 16, 2016. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Final appointment is contingent on funding.
