Popular Culture Instructor
The Department of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University is seeking applicants for an Instructor position in Popular Culture. Duties include service as well as teaching general education courses in the department including Popular Culture and Media (POPC 1650), and Popular Culture film courses such as Introduction to Popular Film (POPC 2500) and Advanced Studies in Popular Film (POPC 3500).
Candidates should have grounding in film theory and media studies with an emphasis in popular culture and appropriate experience in teaching undergraduate general education courses. Ph.D. in appropriate discipline preferred. ABD in appropriate discipline required. All ABD applicants must have Masters degree. Other preferred qualifications include: (1) a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness in Popular Culture or related fields, (2) online teaching experience, and (3) ability to contribute to other units in the School of Cultural and Critical Studies which also includes the American Culture Studies Program, the Department of Ethnic Studies, and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for additional terms. Starting date: August 2016.
