Lewis & Clark College, a private liberal arts college with 2,000 undergraduates, invites applications for a one-year replacement visiting assistant professorship in the Department of History for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be advanced ABD candidates in history. Potential for excellent teaching at an undergraduate institution is essential. The course load will be five courses, ranging from general surveys in African and/or Middle Eastern history to upper-level special topics courses in the visitor’s area of research expertise.
A complete application must include (1) a letter of application including a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching experience and research interests, as well as a description of how the applicant’s teaching and/or work in the campus community will contribute to a culture of inclusion and campus diversity. ; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness; and (4) three letters of recommendation (uploaded separately by the referees).
