The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the field of Metropolitan Studies. This is a one year teaching position with a course load of 4 courses per year, with a possibility of renewal.
The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis houses undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Social and Cultural Analysis, Africana Studies, American Studies, Asian/Pacific/American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Latino Studies, and Metropolitan Studies.
We seek an interdisciplinary scholar with expertise in spatial analysis and spatial transformation. We are especially interested in research concerning the role that infrastructure, political economy, disability, or surveillance technology play in shaping social dynamics and historical trajectories in urban spaces. Thematic focus and area of geographic specialization remain open, although scholars with expertise in the global South are especially encouraged to apply.
