Position: | Associate Professor, Full Professor |
Dartmouth College invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor in Digital Humanities and Social Engagement (DHSE). The position is the first of three that will form a new endowed research cluster, part of a Presidential initiative to extend Dartmouth’s impact on the world through interdisciplinary faculty teams. The DHSE cluster promotes social engagement as a conscious research agenda for the humanities. Its work will range across diverse areas, including the social and ethical dimensions of digital technologies, digital tools that use the humanities to foster civic engagement, and data and technologies that express human diversity. This interdisciplinary appointment will be based in one or more academic units appropriate to the research and teaching areas of the successful candidate.
We seek a colleague of international stature to play a foundational role in developing the DHSE cluster. This hire will play an important part in shaping the group’s agenda, including its budget, programming, and infrastructure. Preferred qualifications include academic accomplishments commensurate with an appointment at a senior rank, a demonstrated ability to conduct collaborative research (including technical expertise), a record of leading major funded research projects, and experience in digital pedagogy and undergraduate mentoring. The successful candidate will collaborate across and beyond the Arts and Humanities division, joining a flourishing research community of colleagues working in a wide range of areas in the Digital Humanities. We especially welcome applications from scholars with a demonstrated commitment to the public humanities and the potential to contribute to the College’s diversity goals.
Applications consisting of a letter of interest and a complete CV should be sent to Professor Michelle Warren, Chair of the Search Committee: DHSE@Dartmouth.edu. Review of applications will begin on 15 February 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
