University College’s School of the Humanities at Fairleigh Dickinson University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant Humanities professor with expertise in digital humanities. Humanities majors and minors pursue a concentration in an interdisciplinary area such as American Studies, British Studies, Digital Humanities, Global & Cultural Studies, Sustainability, or Liberal Studies. The ability to teach across three or more of these fields is an asset. Many of the majors also pursue teacher certification. The ideal candidate would have a commitment to program building and collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a humanities related discipline in hand at the time of appointment; strong preference given to degrees in humanities, cultural studies, philosophy, anthropology, or religion in a global context
- Expertise in digital humanities and technologies as well as evidence of digital humanities projects
- Experience with innovative, quality online instruction
- Demonstrated excellence teaching interdisciplinary courses and/or courses in multiple disciplines at the university level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience assessing student learning outcomes
Requirements of the position:
- Teach a broad variety of humanities courses (typically a 4/4 load)
- Develop interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty in other departments or schools
- Advise students in majors and minors
- Evaluate and mentor adjunct faculty
- Conduct learning outcomes assessment
- Recruit students to the major and minor
- Participate in curricular revision and development
- Perform service at the departmental, school, campus and university levels
- Pursue a scholarly research agenda that leads to peer-reviewed publications
- Perform other relevant duties that may arise
