Description: The College of Arts and Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Summer 2016. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of History; specialization sought is United States History. The College seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. The regular teaching load is 4/4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. The successful candidate will be:
- Willing to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Broadly trained in History and experience teaching United States History.
- Familiar with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body.
- Familiar with high-impact educational practices such as cooperative education, service learning, and undergraduate research.
- Experienced in contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. degree in History, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in History
- Evidence of active research
- A minimum of one year college or university teaching experience.
Texas A&M University--San Antonio: A&M-SA is an upper-division only university with over 4,500 students (Fall 2015) enrolled in undergraduate programs and select graduate programs. The university received independent accreditation by SACSCOC in December 2014. As part of its move toward becoming a comprehensive university, A&M-SA will begin admitting first and second year students in Fall 2016, pending SACSCOC approval. The successful candidate will join a rapidly growing institution.
The university has identified cybersecurity, cyber-physical security, and water resources science as the initial thrust areas for research. Part of the statewide Texas A&M University System, A&M-SA is located on 694 acres in south San Antonio and offers a 21st century education to a diverse student body.
