The Department of History, Kent State University, invites applications for the position of Department Chair to begin in July 2016. While specialization is open, the Department seeks candidates whose teaching and scholarship explore any period of modern history since 1500. The successful candidate will be a senior scholar at the rank of Full Professor with a strong record of scholarship, an active research agenda, administrative experience, and a commitment to teaching excellence. The chair is expected to advance the department’s research profile, guide curricular development and department initiatives, oversee the department’s graduate program (which offers both the MA and PhD), advocate for the department at all levels, and support faculty and student achievement.
Kent State University is the largest public multi-campus system in northeast Ohio, with campuses reaching nine local communities and a population of over 42,000 students, of which over 27,000 reside on the Kent campus.
