The University of Texas–Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in U.S.-Mexico Borderlands/Mexican American history post 1877 to begin fall 2016. Areas of teaching and research specialization may include labor, gender, or immigration in the U.S.-Mexico Border region. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in his or her respective area of specialization. Additional teaching requirements include service courses (i.e. introductory surveys, geography, methods, senior seminar). Ability and/or willingness to teach and develop online courses is especially welcome. In addition, UTRGV has a vibrant Mexican American Studies Program and there exists the possibility to hold either affiliate faculty status or a joint appointment in Mexican American Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a bilingual, bicultural institution in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands through an active research agenda, teaching requirements, and service in the university and Rio Grande Valley communities. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in History or a related field in hand by September 1, 2016, and a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credit in History
