James Madison University's History Department invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor in United States History with a specialization in 20th Century Hispanic/Latino/Chicano Diaspora to begin late August 2016. Review of candidates will begin on December 18, 2015 and continue until the position is filled. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
JMU is a comprehensive public university, with an enrollment of 19,144 undergraduates and 1,711 graduate students, located in the Shenandoah Valley, approximately 2 hours from Washington, D.C. or Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will teach courses in United States History and have the ability to teach U.S. History Survey and/or a General Education Critical Issues in World History course.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or a related field and must have teaching experience.
The History Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
