The School of Cultural and Critical Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chicano/a Studies to begin August 2016. The position will be a dual appointment between the School of Cultural and Critical Studies and the Department of Ethnic Studies. The School of Cultural and Critical Studies will be the tenuring unit.
We are seeking candidates with a specialization in Chicano/a Studies or Mexican-American Studies with teaching abilities complementary to the School of Cultural and Critical Studies in such areas as gender studies, cultural studies theories and methodologies, and popular culture.
Applicants must demonstrate ability to teach Chicano/a Studies undergraduate courses that are part of the Latino/a Studies Minor in the Department of Ethnic Studies. Applicants will also be required to contribute to the Ph.D. and M.A. programs in American Culture Studies.
Preference will be given to candidates who have either a transnational approach to Chicano/a Studies or a regional focus on the Midwest, and who can contribute to multiple units in the School of Cultural and Critical Studies.
Bowling Green State University’s interdisciplinary School of Cultural and Critical Studies includes the departments of Ethnic Studies and Popular Culture and the programs of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and American Culture Studies. The appointee will have the opportunity to teach and develop courses across all units of the school and to teach at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level. Earned Ph.D. in Chicano/a Studies, Ethnic Studies, or related discipline or interdisciplinary field strongly preferred; A.B.D. considered.
