Catholic Daughters of the Americas Chair in American Church History
The School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America seeks to fill a full-time tenure-track position in American Church History to begin in August 2016.
We seek candidates who understand, are enthusiastic about, and will make a significant contribution to the mission of the University, which reads as follows: “As the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, founded and sponsored by the bishops of the country with the approval of the Holy See, The Catholic University of America is committed to being a comprehensive Catholic and American institution of higher learning, faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ as handed on by the Church. The School encourages applications from associate and full professors who have distinguished records of research and publications and of teaching excellence and who are interested in continuing the tradition of scholarship in the field begun at this university by Peter Guilday and John Tracy Ellis. The person who fills the position will be expected to: teach in undergraduate, graduate, and seminary programs in the university; advise students; direct master’s theses and doctoral dissertations; and, serve on committees. Rank and salary will be determined on the basis of academic credentials and publication record.
