General Description:
Entry Level, Full-time, Tenure-Track Appointment for a person specializing in Early Modern European History beginning September 2016. Teach 6 courses per year, including Western Civilization, Early Modern Europe, Middle Ages, Italian Renaissance and European Reformations. The position is also responsible for teaching Historical Methods, and Capstone (Senior Research Seminar) in the departmental rotation, as well as an introductory course in the University’s International Honors program.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Department of History’s commitment to a balanced curriculum, which includes a need for Early Modern European History courses, and courses on the history of Colonial America and the Atlantic World. The person will also be expected to contribute to the department’s advising and mentoring of students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should demonstrate commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching and to historical research in Early Modern European history (field open). Candidate must be able to teach courses on Western Civilization, Renaissance, Reformations, and Colonial North America. Candidate must also be able to contribute to PLU’s vibrant International Honors program through teaching an introductory course in that program.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in History. ABD will be considered but PhD must be in hand by September 1, 2016.
