The Department of Modern Languages is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Interpreting and Translation (Mandarin Chinese). In addition to the teaching of specialist Mandarin Chinese modules, this is an exciting moment for the successful candidate to lead the design and delivery of new programmes in Interpreting at the University – particularly at Postgraduate level – to be offered from the 2017-2018 academic session. The University has invested in the building of a new purpose built Interpreting Suite due to come online in 2017, and the Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer will play a key role in the development of Interpreting and Translation within the Department’s existing provision in M-level Translation Studies and BA Modern Languages translation pathway. The successful candidate must have had experience professionally as a practising interpreter and in teaching Conference Interpreting within Higher Education. In post the Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer will be research active and will be supported in the development of a strong research profile with the eventual aim of a submission to the next round of the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF).
