The University of Dayton Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in 20th century European history excluding Great Britain and Russia. The position begins on August 16, 2016. We require a PhD in European history completed by December 31, 2015. Applicants must have a Specialty in 20th century European history excluding Great Britain and Russia. Applicants must have a potential for excellence in research and teaching. Applicants must articulate the ability to teach HST 103 The West and the World (the Department’s introductory course in historical study required of all students at the University) in addition to upper level history courses in area of specialty. Effective written communication skills are required. Applicants must articulate an active research agenda with preference given to applicants who can demonstrate a record of scholarship. Preference for applicants whose primary research and teaching focus will support the University’s interdisciplinary programs in International Studies, Sustainability Studies, and/or Human Rights. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience successfully teaching undergraduates and successfully working with students of diverse backgrounds.
