Thanks to the generosity of the Korea Foundation, the College of East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University is happy to announce a new tenure-track appointment for an Assistant Professor with a specialty in the political economy of Korea. We are seeking candidates who hold a Ph.D. or are near completion in any social science discipline. The teaching load is four courses per year (two each semester), with the possibility that one of those courses may be taught in Korean and count as a third or fourth year language course. The ideal candidate will be able to teach about Korea as part of a broader East Asian context and be excited to join our interdisciplinary faculty.
To apply, submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, writing sample (25-page maximum), teaching statement, evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluation summaries), names and email addresses of three referees from whom we will obtain confidential letters of recommendation, to: career-webportal. As part of the teaching statement, we invite you to describe your cultural competencies and experiences engaging a diverse student body. For full consideration, applications must be received by December 1, 2015.
Successful semi-finalists will be interviewed via Skype and finalists invited to campus.
