The University of Central Florida is seeking applications for a nine-month tenure-track assistant professor position in World Heritage (non-US history) beginning in August 2016. The successful candidate will be expected to teach regularly offered courses appropriate to their subfield (geographic area and time period open), as well as more specialized courses in Cultural Heritage Management or Museum Studies for undergraduate and graduate students. The faculty member will participate in our department’s Public History program and in strengthening interdepartmental /interdisciplinary ties throughout the university and with the College of Arts & Humanities’ Texts & Technology Ph.D. program.
UCF is a growing metropolitan university with an enrollment of over 60,000 that has maintained an atmosphere of personal instruction. The department offers a B.A. and M.A. in History and offers a public history component as part of its curriculum. Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in History or a related field from an accredited institution is required at the time of hire.
Preferences: Research specialization in world heritage/cultural heritage management; graduate-level training/experience in fields such as Global, African Diaspora or Muslim World History; familiarity with Unesco World Heritage Site standards; teaching experience at the university or college level.
