The Baylor University Institute for Oral History invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Director, a full-time, non-tenure track, research faculty position to begin August 1, 2016. The individual in this position, who will be hired at the assistant or associate level based on experience and qualifications, works closely with the director to provide leadership and vision for ongoing initiatives and new endeavors of the Institute for Oral History. This position helps coordinate staff and budget resources to accomplish the goals of the Institute. This includes working with constituencies inside (faculty, staff, and students) and outside (scholars, community members, and fellow oral historians) the university to plan, administer, and accomplish oral history projects in keeping with the best principles and practices in the field. The successful candidate will also be an active participant in professional development through research, professional presentations, training workshops, and publications on topics related to the areas of responsibility. This position also coordinates Baylor University’s role as the headquarters for the Texas Oral History Association.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in humanities, social sciences, or an appropriate interdisciplinary field; significant experience in professional oral history methodology; familiarity with current trends in technology related to the field; administrative experience in humanities; managerial and supervisory aptitude; general knowledge of recent American history; strong verbal, interpersonal, and public-relations skills; and personal integrity in handling confidential materials.
