The Department of History of the Faculty of Social Science invites applications for a position in East-West Interactions.
Qualifications
Rank of appointment is open, depending on qualifications. Applicants should have a PhD in hand and teaching experience by the start date of the employment. The position is in the general area of the History of East-West Interactions, broadly conceived. We aim to recruit the best applicant therefore, the specific area of research and teaching focus is open but may include Maritime History, Ancient / Pre-Modern / Modern European-Asian Relations, and/or the History of Southeast / South / East Asia or Europe. Preference may be given to applicants whose research has some focus on Macao or other Asian regions. The successful candidate may be required to teach General Education courses in the area of Global History. Applicants must be able to lecture and publish research in English; command of at least one European or Asian language (in addition to English) relevant to her/his area of specialization may be considered as an advantage.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2016.
Position and Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
