The University of Wisconsin River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located in scenic west central Wisconsin, 30 miles from the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. Year-round arts, cultural and recreational events are easily accessible from River Falls. UWRF's 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges: Arts and Sciences, Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; and Business and Economics

The Position:
This is a full-time, nine month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in modern U.S. history. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the second half of U.S. history survey, African-American history or gender history, and upper-division U.S. history courses in the field of her/his specialization; pursue an active research agenda in her/his field of specialty; advise History and secondary education in history and social studies majors; serve the department, college, university and community in committees and other functions; and coordinate/direct the secondary education in history and social studies program. Anticipated Appointment date: August 22, 2016.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective teaching methods;
- Engage in publishable research and scholarly activity;
- Coordinate secondary education program in History and Social Studies;
- Engage in high-impact educational practices such as faculty-student collaborative research and/or global education and/or developing and supporting external partnerships;
- Provide service to department, college, university, and/or profession
Qualifications Required:
PhD in History – must be completed by the time of hire.
Research focus on 20th-century U.S. history.
Qualifications and experience relevant to coordinating/directing secondary education in history and social studies program is highly desired but not required.
