The History Department at the University of St. Thomas (MN) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the history of early North America before 1830 with an emphasis on borderlands and/or early American politics. Position begins in Fall 2016.
Candidates with the Ph. D. or equivalent are preferred, but ABD with an imminent completion date (with initial appointment at the rank of instructor) will be considered. Applicants should be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and ongoing research in their field.
The teaching load of three courses per semester involves some combination of the following: HIST 113 Early America in Global Perspective in fulfillment of the core requirement as well as upper-level courses in his/her area of specialization for undergraduate history majors and minors. An ability to teach courses such as colonial and revolutionary America, early national United States, North American indigenous peoples, and US constitutional and/or US legal history would be particularly welcome.
