The History Department at Fort Lewis College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in U.S. History, with a specialization in 20th/21st-century United States History, starting August 15, 2016.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. in U.S. History in hand by August 15, 2016.
- Ability to teach both halves of the U.S. survey courses.
- Ability to teach upper-division classes in field of specialization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to teach lower- and/or upper-division Public History courses.
Teaching Duties:
- Teaching load is 12 credit hours per term, with a 3 credit release for scholarship activities once per year available, with an emphasis on devoting majority of energy toward undergraduate classroom instruction.
- Contribute to the Core Courses rotation within the Department.
- Mentoring of students.
Research Duties:
· Applicants should have a clear research agenda with the promise of continued involvement in his or her discipline(s).
Service Duties:
- Collaborate with colleagues in course curriculum, assessment, and other Department-related activities.
· Serve on College or Faculty committees as needed.

Fort Lewis College is Colorado's public liberal arts college, offering baccalaureate degree programs in the arts, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences as well as professional programs in applied sciences, teacher education, and business administration.
