The University of Maryland, College Park, invites applications from historians of the late antique Mediterranean, defined as 200-800 CE. Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated ability to teach broadly in the history and culture of the ancient and classical world, in addition to the late antique period. The successful candidate will show exceptional scholarly promise and evidence of excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate lecture courses and upper-level undergraduate seminars as well as graduate seminars on specialized topics; advising graduate students; and engaging in curriculum development.
