New York University’s Polytechnic School of Engineering invites nominations and applications for the position of the Dibner Chair in History or Philosophy of Technology, broadly defined. The Dibner Chair will also be appointed as Full Professor in the Department of Technology, Culture and Society, and cross-appointed in other relevant departments in the School of Engineering, as appropriate. Qualified candidates will be scholars of international repute with a distinguished record of published research in history of technology, philosophy of technology, or science and technology studies, broadly defined, with fields in one or more of the following subject areas: history, theory and philosophy of the interactions of machines and humanity, and/or the biome, and/or urban technology studies, and/or citizen science initiatives, or arts and digital technology, or another area of arts or humanities related to engineering and technology.
