The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the position of assistant professor (tenure-track) or associate professor with tenure, with an anticipated start in the fall semester 2016. We invite applications from scholars specializing in the literature and culture of the regions of former Yugoslavia, Poland, and/or Czech Republic/Slovakia (in this order of preference).
Candidates must have native or near native command of the respective Slavic language and be qualified to teach it at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Teaching duties will include a two course per semester load, consisting of one language course and one content/culture course. The selected candidate will be expected to exhibit a commitment to service to the department, center, college, and university; to do some administrative work; to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; to direct graduate research; to direct dissertations, MA reports and honor theses; and to publish actively. Salary is based upon qualifications and experience. Ph.D. in a related field is required.
