The Department of History at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track position in 19th- century US history, whose research and/or teaching incorporates gender and sexuality studies (assistant professor level). The successful candidate will have completed, or will complete by August 2016, her/his PhD, and will demonstrate a record of excellence in research and experience in undergraduate teaching. She or he will normally teach a section of the introductory US history survey each year, as well as courses in historical methods, upper-level courses and research seminars in her or his areas of expertise, and will participate occasionally in the department¹s capstone course. Teaching load is four courses in the first year, and five thereafter.
