CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
Inaugurated in the fall of 2001, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) is dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities for academically gifted students from the five boroughs of New York City and beyond. The Macaulay Honors College program includes generous financial support for each student, including a full-tuition merit scholarship and a $7,500 Opportunities Fund grant. In addition, the Honors College offers unique interdisciplinary seminars focusing on New York City, training in instructional technology, dedicated mentors and advisors, prominent visiting professors, internships, study abroad experiences, and a Cultural Passport that provides entrée to the vast cultural resources of New York City. Macaulay operates in partnership with eight CUNY campuses: Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter, John Jay, Lehman, Queens, and Staten Island; graduates are awarded a degree jointly conferred by Macaulay and their home campus. Currently, Macaulay Honors College has approximately 2,032 University Scholars enrolled on the eight campuses.
The Macaulay Honors College Office of Institutional Advancement seeks a motivated Institutional Research Specialist to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. The Research Specialist will report to the Director of Institutional Research and will play a pivotal role in assisting the Director of Institutional Research with internal and external reporting, academic, administrative and educational and student support.
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Oversees the maintenance and design of a complex database system for Institutional Research and Academic Affairs;
•Maintains institutional data on students from eight (8) campuses in various formats;
•Selects the strategies for updating and refreshing a complex database;
•Administers large complex data sets, including exporting and importing data from various sources;
•Runs queries and creates reports from database using TOAD, PS Query, PLSQL developer or similar tool;
•Synthesizes information and disseminates results by producing informative reports, tables, presentations, and visualizations (e.g., charts, maps, and infographics);
•Develops a dashboard application for administrative reporting and planning;
•Posts or administers on-line forms or applications to collect data;
•Provides support to Academic Affairs for student co-curricular activities tracking;
•Responsible for the maintenance, management and updating of the Macaulay Honors College student information;
•May consult with staff and students in the design of databases for research projects.
GENERAL DUTIES:
•Oversees collection and assessment of data for Institutional Research purposes.
•Compiles, maintains, and analyzes institutional data in various formats
•Produces reports and metrics based on department's needs; responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests
•Loads, extracts, edits, and evaluates data for reporting and analytics
•Maintains selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy
•May participate in internal and external surveys as needed
•May consult with others in designing methodology for research projects
•Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
A preferred candidate should have:
•Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field
•Four (4) years of progressively responsible data management and academic assessment experience
•Experience in data analysis
•Experience developing data reporting systems and databases
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Proficiency with quantitative and qualitative research methods; competence with statistical analysis and database packages, particularly SPSS; a demonstrated ability to adapt sound assessment principles to a variety of settings.
•Knowledge of SQL, VBA, Java and other applicable programming languages is a plus
