The Department of History invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Britain and the World, 1700 to the Present. The Department seeks a historian of modern Britain in global context with the ability to offer courses and mentor students in early modern and modern British and imperial history, as well as in the candidate’s thematic areas of interest and research. Potential areas of thematic focus that engage research strengths within the Department and University include but are not limited to race, empire, and decolonization; slavery and forced labor; ethnicity, migration, and diaspora; globalization and capitalism; environmental history; international history; digital humanities; and health, medicine, and society. The teaching load is four courses per year. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in both research and teaching.
