Job description: Film Studies scholar for a shared position in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and the Film Division (in the School of Dance, Film, and Theater) at Ohio University. The position requires a scholar who demonstrates a commitment to interdisciplinarity, and who can teach as a generalist as well. Preference will be given to scholars in international film, global cinema, gender and sexuality studies, or critical race studies. The candidate will be called upon to teach a range of graduate seminars in film history, film theory, and in areas of specialization; participate in team-teaching; and advise theses and dissertations. The Film Division offers a Film Minor to undergraduates, and the School of Interdisciplinary Arts engages in undergraduate general education. As such, there may be a component of undergraduate teaching to the position. The candidate is expected to be an active scholar in the field. The position is for one year, renewable up to three, appointed to the School of Interdisciplinary Arts.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Film Studies or related field; teaching experience at the college/university level; publication record. Candidates are expected to be broadly conversant in film history and theory and current methodologies in film studies.

Areas of study include African arts and literatures, art and architectural history, ethnomusicology/musicology, film studies, performance studies, philosophy of art, and theater. The Film Division offers an M.F.A. in Film Production, an M.A. in Film Studies, and a Film Minor to undergraduates.
