The Center for American Studies at Columbia University invites applications from qualified candidates for a postdoctoral research scholar position for the 2015-16 academic year.
The holder of the postdoctoral research position will teach one section each semester in Columbia's Contemporary Civilization program and also contribute to the activities of the Center for American Studies.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in advancing student learning about American government and economic institutions, including their historical and intellectual context and prior origins, and the ideas and debates that have shaped them.
The appointment start date will be September 1, 2015. Possibility of renewal for a second year will be contingent on satisfactory performance. The salary will be $50,000, plus benefits.
All applicants must have a PhD, preferably in history or a cognate discipline (such as political science, philosophy, or religion). PhD must be in hand by August 31, 2015 and cannot have been awarded prior to May 1, 2012.
