Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Master’s degree or higher in history from an accredited college or university; OR
2. Bachelor’s degree in history AND a Master’s degree or higher in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science, or ethnic studies from an accredited college or university; OR
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above (Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must submit the Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination form in addition to all other required materials).
Experience Required:
A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college level.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in History with a specialization in a non-Western field of modern history.
2. Ability to develop curriculum and teach courses in the history of one or more of the following: Latin America, Africa, and/or Middle East.
3. Ability to teach courses in the experience of immigrant communities in the United States.
4. A strong record of success in teaching undergraduates, preferably at the community college level.
5. An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff, and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience of our students.
6. Candidate will complement and enhance existing department strengths in comparative histories of race and ethnicity.
SPECIALIZATION:
World History (Early Modern and Modern periods)
One of the following: Latin America, Africa, Middle East.

Immigrant Experience in the United States
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duties include teaching survey courses in World Civilization II and in any of the following areas: Eastern/Asian Civilization, African History; African American History; Asian American History; Latin American History; Racial and Ethnic Relations in the United States; Middle Eastern History.
Beyond this, the candidate will be expected to participate in the development of history programs within the context of humanistic inquiry (e.g., History, Humanities, Honors Programs, Interdisciplinary Studies etc.)
