The Bard Graduate Center in New York City wishes to announce that it is converting the recently announced postdoctoral fellowship in Islamic art and material culture into a tenure-track assistant professorship. Our ideal candidate is a scholar with a broad background in Islamic art, archaeology, and cultural history and a commitment to research, teaching, and service. The BGC is a graduate research institute studying the cultural history of the material world, drawing on methodologies and approaches from art and design history, economic and cultural history, history of technology, philosophy, anthropology, and archaeology. The recipient must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by September 2015. The appointment will begin 1 July 2015. Applications should include: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, sample publication, and three letters of recommendation.
