The Department of Religion at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor of Religion in the Americas beginning September 2015. The successful finalist will be prepared to teach U.S. Religious History, Religions of Latin America and upper level undergraduate classes in the Americas. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: material culture; critical race and ethnic studies; women, gender and sexuality studies; or transnationalism. Applicants may wish to address their ability to contribute to the college’s programs in Critical Ethnic Studies (under development); Jewish Studies; or Women, Gender and Sexuality. Faculty teach two classes during each of three ten-week academic terms. Ph.D. (or evidence it will be completed by September 1, 2015) highly desired. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience.
Kalamazoo College is a highly selective, nationally known liberal arts college of approximately 1450 motivated students offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into domestic and international educational experiences. The campus is located midway between Chicago and Detroit in Kalamazoo, Michigan which is in a metropolitan area of 225,000.
