The Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas (IPLAI), McGill University, invites applications for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director plays an essential role in the administration and development of IPLAI’s research, teaching, and public exchange missions.
A collaboration of the Faculties of Arts, Law, Management, Education, Engineering, and Religious Studies, the School of Music, and the McGill Libraries, IPLAI is a leader in innovative, interdisciplinary research and teaching. The faculty and students associated with IPLAI seek to reorient the university toward the world by creating robust lines of connection between the humanities and the multiple publics of Montreal and beyond.
Working closely with the Academic Director, the Executive Director will foster IPLAI’s transformative work in the university and in Canadian society. The successful candidate will have a PhD in one of the disciplines represented in IPLAI, experience in research and teaching administration, demonstrated event planning skills, ability to manage an institutional budget, excellent communication skills, and abundant initiative and imagination. The Executive Director will assist in fund-raising and development efforts. Experience with grant-writing and the ability to speak both official languages will be strong assets.
