VCUQatar is the Qatar campus of the prestigious Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia. Established in 1998 through a partnership with Qatar Foundation, VCUQatar offers students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in fashion design, graphic design, interior design and painting & printmaking, a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history and a Master of Fine Arts degree in design.

Graphic Design Faculty
VCUQatar's Graphic Design department is recruiting for a full-time 9-month faculty member at the Assistant Professor level with expertise and strength in Arabic Type design, macro and micro principles and aesthetics of bilingual typography and experimental design in multilingual typographic expressions. The candidate has to possess a thorough knowledge on the history of visual communication in the region and globally. The department seeks a faculty member whose teaching practice is rooted in contemporary design practice in the pragmatic realm, but whose thinking is futuristic. Additionally candidates should show their approach and practical experience engaging students in the following arenas using innovative media and technologies: creative storytelling, branding for multimedia branding, presentation design, interactive installations, and information design. Candidates must have advanced knowledge and ability using technology to support teaching and research.
Digital Fabrication Lab and Woodshop Technician
VCUQatar seeks a 10-month faculty/technician position at the Assistant Professor level who will be responsible to work with students and faculty from the four undergraduate art and design majors as well as the graduate program and collaborators. This 10 position supports visual art and design programs at VCUQatar with responsibilities that combine teaching within the facility, which currently includes a digital fabrication lab and a woodshop; providing workshops to support the existing curricula; training and technical support on the use of equipment; maintenance and general repair of equipment; ordering supplies and equipment; coordinating use of the facility by multiple university departments and collaborators; and overseeing day-to-day operations.
This position will also develop studio health plans and oversee that these rules are taught to and observed by all users of the facility. The successful candidate will work with students and faculty from the four undergraduate art and design majors as well as the graduate program and collaborators; will be required to teach within the facility across disciplines and be able offer an educational approach that will suit students with diverse educational backgrounds. Additionally, this position will engage in the development and delivery of significant research activity, participating in academic advising, and providing service to the department, university, the community in Qatar, and the profession. This position will perform all other duties as assigned.
