Appointment: The Asian Studies Program at the University of Puget Sound invites applications for a tenure-line Assistant Professor position in Chinese language and literature to begin July 2015.
Responsibilities:
Field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants who can offer courses in both pre-modern and modern Chinese literature and contribute to the core curriculum or other inter-disciplinary programs on campus. Standard teaching assignment is three courses per semester.
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position must have native or near-native fluency in Modern Standard Chinese and English, and Ph.D. in hand or expected by time of appointment. Both language and literature are important components of the liberal arts curriculum at Puget Sound, and candidates must be enthusiastic, willing and able to teach both Chinese literature in English translation and Chinese language courses at all levels.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
