U.S. History, 1789-1919 -- The History Program at CSU Channel Islands seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in U.S. History, 1789-1919, starting in the Fall 2015. The selected candidate will show expertise or promise in teaching abilities, scholarly accomplishments, and service experiences that best fit the needs for the future growth of our program. Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. by summer 2015 from an accredited institution in history or a related field, a record of or potential for effectiveness in scholarship and undergraduate instruction, and the ability and willingness to provide teaching versatility and interdisciplinary learning. The new position is intended to strengthen the North American history pillar of our program that includes Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Candidates who specialize in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: Borderlands, California, Economic, Environmental, Gender, Immigration, Labor, Legal, Native American, and/or the West. Ability and willingness to develop and teach a broad range of U.S. history courses would be a plus. Responsibilities include teaching U.S. surveys as well as upper division courses in area of expertise.
