NYU Shanghai
NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for one or more tenured or tenure-track appointments at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor). Scholars should have expertise in two or more of the following fields, all pertaining to Early China from the Shang to the Tang dynasty: (a) archeology and material culture; (b) history and geography; (c) philosophy, religion and textual traditions; (d) paleography (excavated texts), epigraphy, and linguistics. Successful candidates will have excellent reading of Classical Chinese and an emphasis on interdisciplinarity. The ability to handle a wide range of different sources would be especially desirable.
The terms of employment are comparable to U.S. institutions and include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the NYU global network, engaging in both research and teaching. The appointment can begin as soon as September 1, 2015, with a later starting date possible, pending candidate availability.
