The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures at Barnard College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time tenure-track teacher/scholar at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in contemporary Chinese culture and society, to begin September 1, 2015. Candidates should demonstrate a broad interest in contemporary Chinese culture and society, from a social science perspective; areas of specialization may include cultural anthropology, cultural geography, economics, environmental studies, gender studies, human rights, medical anthropology, public health, and sociology. Particular attention will be given to candidates with a record of diverse, innovative, and interdisciplinary research and teaching. Teaching will include undergraduate general education courses, as well as more specialized and graduate courses.
