The Department of Asian History at Seoul National University invites applications for a professorship in the history of pre-modern Southeast Asia and/or maritime Asia in general. Applicants are expected to have expertise in maritime history of Eastern Indian Ocean and South China Sea from 1000 to 1800 ca. Those who combine strong research records, ability to work with sources in multiple languages, and passion for teaching will be preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach on both undergraduate and graduate levels up to 9 hours a week in English and to start at Seoul National University preferably in March 2015. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous career and achievement. Only those who already have PhD at the time of submission of application will be considered.
Candidates should send us a letter of application, CV, description of courses that you would like to teach (sample syllabi), graduate transcript, a sample of scholarly writing (book chapter or article), and three letters of recommendation.
