The University of Basel, Switzerland, invites applications for a full time tenure track or tenured
Professorship in Urban-Rural Transformations
at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.
We are seeking applicants with a track record in research and teaching on the shaping of space in
the urban-rural continuum, focused on current ecologic, political and architectural developments at
the global level. Potential candidates should have a background in political and urban ecology,
human geo- graphy or a related field and demonstrate a strong interest in methodological approaches
to landscape research and planning.
The University of Basel is creating this new position within a new interdisciplinary MSc program in
Urban and Landscape Studies. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues from anthro-
pology, geography, art history, and further disciplines in designing this program and participate
in PhD programs. He or she will also contribute to developing architectural and social science
competences at the University of Basel, especially within the frame of a collaboration with the
University of Cape Town, South Africa.
A Ph.D. or comparable professional experience, significant publications, and a teaching record are
requi- red. Responsibilities will include teaching at all levels, research, advising, and
administration. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The position will begin August 1, 2015 (teaching duties to begin mid-September 2015).
