Lecturer, Philosophy (Job # 10782)
The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in Philosophy. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment. This is a fixed-term, fiscal year (twelve month) appointment with no tenure implications. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2014.
Courses will be taught in person and/or online with online courses offered in intensive 7.5 week sessions. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four of the following: Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, Symbolic Logic, Philosophy of Science, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ancient Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Ethical Theory, Bioethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Existentialism.
- Doctoral degree in Philosophy
- Evidence of high quality teaching, including online instruction, at the university level
- Ability to teach Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, Symbolic Logic, Philosophy of Science, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ancient Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Ethical Theory, Bioethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Existentialism
- Familiarity with online education at Arizona State University
