Museum Curator, Aeronautics. The Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum seeks a Museum Curator in the Aeronautics Division for a 3-year term appointment. He/she will perform curatorial tasks in the history of flight, with emphasis on the history of Modern Military Aviation, including scholarly and technical research on artifacts concerning Modern Military Aviation; exhibit development; participation in public service efforts; and development of the collection of aviation artifacts. Applicants must have: 1) knowledge of the history of flight, with emphasis on the history of Modern Military Aviation; 2) skill in performing scholarly and technical research as evidenced by authorship of professional papers and scholarly publications. A PhD in History or related social science field is preferred. This position is not a federal civil service position. The position is being offered at both the grade 9—starting at $52,146 and the grade 11—starting at $63,091, dependent on education and experience. Job closes July 10, 2014.
