The history department at Western Oregon University seeks a non-tenure track visiting Assistant Professor in Public History with an emphasis on environmental history in the American West. All eras of specialization will be considered. The position begins September 16, 2014 and will be a full-time appointment for Fall 2014, Winter 2015 and Spring 2015. The department has a robust undergraduate program. Faculty members participate in a variety of interdisciplinary minors across campus including an Environmental Studies minor. The successful candidate will teach the U.S. History survey sequence and upper-division courses in the fields outlined above, including a course in Archival Science and at least one graduate level course. The candidate will also assist history majors who are completing their senior thesis in these fields. We seek someone who will cultivate links to community and governmental institutions in the region.
Qualifications: Ph.D. required and college level teaching experience preferred
