The Department of History at Bilkent University invites applications for a faculty appointment in Byzantine History. Preference will be given to those who also can teach courses and direct theses on subjects concerning Ottoman Minorities/Millet system. The position will commence 1 September 2014.
Candidates must have a PhD awarded by 1 September 2014. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate excellence in research, publications and teaching.
Academic rank, salary and teaching-load will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment will be subject to approval by Bilkent University Provost Office.

Bilkent University, located in suburban Ankara, was founded in 1984 as the first private research university in Turkey. The medium of instruction throughout the university is English.
